DFS to Deploy Hurricane Yan Insurance Villages in Southwest Florida

The Department of Financial Services (DFS) today announced that in continuation of last year’s deployment of down payment centers in southwest Florida due to Hurricane Ian, the Department of Consumer Services will accept 3 insurance villages during the week of Jan 23-Jan 28. .

These villages will give policyholders the opportunity to meet their property insurer in person and work together to resolve outstanding claims.

Representatives of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and more than a dozen insurance companies are expected to be ready to help insurance consumers.

Insureds must provide as many documents as possible, including:

  • Driver’s license or other form of identification (passport/government issued ID)
  • Insurance cards and insurance policies information/documentation
  • Photographs or documentation of property claimed as loss as a result of Hurricane Yang.
  • Repair estimate
  • Any readily available additional information related to insurance.

Due to a lack of space, insurance villages will be solely focused on insurance-related matters, and employees from other agencies will not be present to help with other post-storm benefits. For more information, visit FloridaDisaster.org.
