School closures

All schools in the Pacific Grove Unified School District will be closed on Friday because none of the schools currently have electricity. County officials said dangerous road conditions with fallen trees and limited cell service in Pacific Grove also led to school closures.

Several schools in the Monterey Peninsula Unified School District will also be closed on Friday due to power outages in the Monterey Peninsula. These schools include:

  • Digital Academy at Foothill Elementary School
  • La Mesa School
  • Monte Vista School
  • Monterey High School
  • Walter Colton High School

The Carmel Unified School District also closed all schools due to the winter storm. The county said there is currently no electricity at most of their facilities. Officials said essential workers would be contacted for access and maintenance of their facilities.

Bradley Union School District, San Ardo Union Elementary School District and Soledad Unified School District canceled classes today. For Soledad USD, Friday was a scheduled day off.
