Deputies say a 15-year-old girl was critically injured when she was hit by a box truck in Polk County.
POLK COUNTY, Florida. — A 15-year-old girl is in critical condition Tuesday morning after she was hit by a box truck at a marked crosswalk in Polk County, according to the sheriff’s office.
MPs responded to the crash at 547 County Road and Sophie Lane, near the Davenport School of the Arts, around 6:45 am.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office said the girl was crossing CR-547 with other teenagers when she was hit.
According to deputies, there is no traffic light at the intersection.

The girl was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Sheriff’s officials said the driver was cooperating with the police.
The investigation is ongoing.
