Deadly police shooting at Winter Park wedding found justified, state attorney says

WINTER PARK, Florida. – The Florida Attorney’s Office has found that police broke no laws in the shooting that killed a man at a Winter Park wedding last year.

According to a press release, the Winter Park Police Department received a final SAO report on Tuesday about the shooting that took place just a year ago.

Last February, officers responded to calls to attack a wedding at the Winter Park Event Center when they had an argument with Daniel Knight, 39, the bride’s uncle.

During the altercation, Knight knocked an answering policeman unconscious, police said, prompting reserve officers to open fire.

According to police, Knight was transferred to AdventHealth Orlando, where he later died from his injuries.

However, members of Knight’s family claim that none of the officers lost consciousness.
