Dead fox testing positive for rabies found in Wimberley; Sheriff warns the public

A dead fox with rabies was found in Wimberley, according to the Hayes County Sheriff’s Office.

The HCSO said the fox was found around 9 a.m. Wednesday outside a home on the 500th block of W Summit Dr.

The fox was tested by the NHS Department of Health and found to have the rabies virus.

If you or anyone else may have had physical contact with this animal, call the Hayes County Sheriff’s Office, Animal Control at (512) 393-7896, or the State Department of Health’s Department of Zoonosis Control at ( 512) 778-6744. .
