Dallas Zoo to hold press conference on ‘unusual’ death of endangered vulture

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) – The Dallas Zoo is set to hold a press conference Monday afternoon following the endangered vulture’s death over the weekend.

On Saturday, the zoo said the circumstances of the vulture’s death were “unusual” and that it was not due to natural causes.

The news comes just a week after a clouded leopard mysteriously escaped from an exhibit through a cut hole — a hole similar to one found in ape habitat shortly after.

Because of these incidents, zoo officials alerted the Dallas Police Department.

Officials said last week they installed additional cameras throughout the zoo and increased security at the site at night.

The press conference is expected to start at 15:00.
