Dallas man who confessed to child sexual abuse sentenced to 50 years in prison

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) — A Dallas man who admitted to repeatedly sexually abusing a 7-year-old girl has been sentenced to 50 years in prison, federal officials announced Thursday.

Luis Humberto Rodriguez, 30, pleaded guilty in January 2021 to one count of producing child pornography and one count of transporting child pornography. US Judge Brantley Starr sentenced him to 30 years for production and 20 years for transportation. Rodriguez will serve these terms consecutively for a total of 50 years behind bars.

As part of the plea agreement, Rodriguez admitted to filming himself raping a 7-year-old girl several times and sharing the footage with others on social media.

Law enforcement agents began investigating Rodriguez when agents in Olympia, Washington seized an iPad from a registered sex offender. They found that the perpetrator and Rodriguez had been talking on the app and that Rodriguez had discussed “sharing” images of child sexual abuse by offering his email address.

Rodriguez was eventually tracked down to Dallas and his house ransacked. Agents found a smartphone with videos of Rodriguez’s child sexual abuse and a large collection of child abuse material. In plea papers, Rodriguez admitted to having kept over 600 videos and images of child abuse.
