Crews work to patch potholes before next storm hits San Francisco

Recent storms have left their mark on the roads in the Bay Area.

Significantly increased the number of potholes that opened.

Marisol Navarro told NBC Bay Area she narrowly avoided one in San Francisco, but after heavy rain, it’s a problem in many areas she drives.

“Wherever you go, you get on the freeway, it’s huge. I think they should start fixing them,” she said.

On Wednesday, four crews were in San Francisco, filling in potholes all over the city, trying to catch up.

Have you been driving on the roads of the Bay Area lately? We saw a serious problem with potholes due to rain. But the good news is that many of them are being fixed. Raj Mathai of NBC Bay Area spoke to Oakland Mayor Sheng Tao about his renovation plan.

“This is not a record number, but it is certainly high. Only in February in January we had more than 1500 patching repairs. In a typical month, there are over 1,000 pothole repairs, and in a dry month it can be anywhere from 4 to 500,” said San Francisco-based Rachel Gordon.

Gordon said that if anyone sees the pothole, they are asked to contact San Francisco 311 so that community service is available so crews can get there.

Gordon also gave advice on what you can do if you think you have damage to your car or bike.

“You can file a lawsuit with the city prosecutor’s office. There’s no guarantee that you’ll get paid for a wheel alignment or tire fitting, but make sure you have receipts, location, and a photo, and then the city attorney’s office will review your claim.

Larkins Brothers Tires of South Van Ness said they’ve been busy lately. They are working to get customers back on the road as quickly as possible as more rain rolls in.
