Crane collapse in Tselina kills 1 person

SELINA (CBSNewsTexas.com) A crane collapsed at Dan Christie Elementary School in Selina, killing one person, confirms Pogue Construction.

The call came in around 2:00 pm Friday at Crutchfield Road near Boleyn Avenue.

Although the school is located in Celina, it is part of Prosper ISD. Officials say the opening is scheduled for August.

“We have just learned that a worker at the construction site of a new elementary school we are building was fatally injured in an accident with a subcontractor crane at the construction site,” Pogue Construction said in a statement. “We want to express our condolences and offer our prayers to his friends, family and colleagues. Safety is a top priority for our company and we have a team to assist with the investigation.”

There is no word yet on what caused the crane to fall and whether anyone else was hurt.
