Community activists seek answers from Aldine ISD after a six-year-old girl was sexually abused on a school bus by an older student.

Houston, Texas – Community activists Quannell X and Dr. Candace Matthews of the Rainbow Push Coalition are calling for change and accountability after they say 6-year-old ISD student Alyn was sexually assaulted in the back seat of a district school bus on February 1. an older male student who attends another school.

The violent incident was caught on camera on the bus.

“They came to this bus depot and investigators found additional video taken over several months that shows this mother’s son being raped and molested by older boys,” Quannell X said. “We demand the immediate resignation of the heads of this bus depot. We demand the director’s resignation.”

Quannell X said he feared there could be more victims and perpetrators.

The baby’s mother spoke to KPRC2 for the first time on Friday. The woman, who was not named by KPRC2 to protect her child’s identity, said she was unaware of the sexual abuse but noticed a change in her son’s behavior months ago.

“The changes have affected homosexual behavior,” she said. “The change was that the school was making accusations of different things, and here I am taking away television privileges, cell phone privileges and things like that, not knowing that my child is just reliving and crying out for help.”

Dr. Whitney Crowson, clinical child psychologist at the Children’s Assessment Center, says parents should be on the lookout for significant changes in their children’s behavior. She said parents should also talk to their children about not keeping secrets.

“Just encouraging communication and supporting the child is what we can do best to understand these signs, manifest them and have them articulated for us,” Crowson said.

The victim’s mother demands the bus driver be fired, monitors installed in the back of the bus, and the perpetrator brought to disciplinary action.

Aldine ISD has released the following updated statement:

“The safety of our students continues to be a top priority at Aldine ISD and we are committed to providing a safe environment in the classroom and during transportation to and from school. Campus leaders are constantly working to monitor student behavior and communicate with parents to resolve issues should incidents occur. An investigation into Aldine ISD PD and the district authorities immediately began on Wednesday, February 1, 23 after the district administration became aware of an accident on a district bus involving two of our elementary school students. The CPS has been notified. Appropriate action will be taken based on the results of the investigation. Because this is an active investigation and in accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), we cannot provide additional information to protect the privacy of student information.”
