CNN Tupper: Nikki Haley’s candidacy brings out a ‘very ugly side of the left’

CNN host Jake Tupper said on his show “The Lead” on Tuesday that former Gov. Nikki Haley (R-SC), who is running for president, is bringing out “a very ugly side of the left.”

Tapper said: “New York Times journalist Wajahat Ali made very critical comments yesterday or maybe Sunday about Gov. Nikki Haley, who is now running for president. Let’s take a look.”

Ali said on MSNBC, “She uses her brown skin as a weapon against poor blacks and poor brown people, and she uses her brown skin to launder white supremacists’ talking points. The reason I’m sad is because no matter what she does, it will never be enough. They will never love her.”

Democratic strategist Paul Begala said, “I think the fact that she became governor of South Carolina with dark skin is a very impressive achievement. I don’t think people should laugh at her. I think these are terrible things to say about her.

Tapper said: “You see some people on the left pointing out that Nikki is not her real name. I think that’s her middle name. This is not true, and these are the same people who objected to Republicans saying “Barack Hussein Obama.” I mean, there’s a very ugly side of the left that comes out when Nikki Haley runs for president.”
