CHP: One person died in an accident near Hollister on Highway 156 due to speeding in rainy weather.

HOLLISTER, California. (KION-TV) — The California Highway Patrol said a man died in a two-vehicle crash on Highway 156 near Hollister on Saturday morning.

CHP said the accident occurred at 6:57 a.m., when a 37-year-old woman driving a 2019 Honda Civic eastbound on Highway 156, west of Monterey Street, was driving at unsafe speeds due to a wet road on the first lane. .

She lost control and drove into the second lane, and then onto the southern asphalt roadside. The front of her car hit the guardrail; this redirected her back into the east lanes of Highway 156 to the path of a 2011 Honda Civic.

A 2011 Honda was driving down the number one lane and the front of its car crashed into the right rear of a 2019 Honda Civic. Both vehicles stopped on the east lanes of Highway 156.

The Good Samaritan stopped to help both parties and called 911. When paramedics arrived, they found that the driver of the 2019 Honda Civic had died from his injuries.

CHP is not certain at this time that drugs and alcohol were the cause of the accident. They added that it was raining at the time of the accident and that both parties were wearing seat belts.

The driver of the 2019 Honda was only identified as a 37-year-old woman from Hollister. The driver of the 2011 Honda was a 53-year-old woman from Hollister.
