CHP is looking for a driver after a man was found dead on a highway. 4 in Concord

The California Highway Patrol said on Monday that the death of a man in East Bay may be related to an accident.

Daymond Lazenby’s body was found off Highway 4 in Concord on January 7 after the 19-year-old was reported missing.

“It looks like Lazenby was hit by a car,” the CHP said in a Facebook post on Monday. “CHP believes Lazenby was hit by the right front of the vehicle and the driver fled the scene.”

Police said the suspect vehicle is possibly a dark-colored sedan.

Anyone with information is encouraged to leave a detailed message with CHP’s 24/7 hotline at 707-917-4491.

Lazenby’s car was found abandoned in the early morning of January 1 near an overpass on the Port Chicago highway. He has not been seen or heard from since the night of his disappearance.

Concord Police, CHP and the Contra Costa County Coroner’s Office are investigating the death.
