Child pornography arrests: court documents show how North Texas police were briefed

Court documents from some of the 59 suspects arrested in the mass child exploitation case show how the police were informed and about the viciousness of the materials these suspects had on them.

The documents contain more descriptive and disturbing information about what photographs and videos the men allegedly had. One victim was only three years old.

FOX 4 received new affidavits for the arrest of three of the 59 arrested in an investigation called Operation Janus.

Investigators say web services such as Microsoft’s Bing and the Kik app have reported inappropriate content.

Juan Blaylock

Juan Blaylock, 56, was arrested at his North Dallas apartment near Arapahoe and Preston Road.

Court documents say police received a notification from Microsoft Bing that 22 files were uploaded.

Investigators say they searched Blaylock’s laptop on February 2.

They allegedly found thousands of child pornography files on it, from which, if we described them, your belly would turn over.

“We’re seeing the worst in society, the darkness of society, being able to shine a light into the darkness and save these kids is extremely important,” Jeff Rich, Plano’s lead detective, said last week.

Maximilian Arya

Maximilian Arya, 29, has been charged with possession of child pornography.

His home was 3 miles from Blaylock.

Court documents say social media app Kik reported inappropriate content to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in May 2022.

The Dallas police were notified, and on February 3 they received a search warrant.

Investigators say Arya allegedly had videos that, again, are too graphic to describe.

Gary Don Mathis

The third warrant was issued to 69-year-old Gary Don Mathis.

Mathis also lived about 3 miles from the other two suspects.

He was accused of promoting child pornography.

Investigators say they received a search warrant for Mathis in November 2022.

Allegedly, they found four flash drives with child pornography.

Court documents say Mathis had thousands of child pornography files on his computer.

Rich says that while more arrests related to child pornography technology have been made public in recent months and years, it’s a double-edged sword.

“It makes it easier to find these people, but also allows these people to be more willing to share this information,” the detective said.

Last week we reported that among the 59 arrested were two teachers and a Dallas firefighter.

Both schools have told us that they do not believe that any of their students were involved.
