Chicago restaurant Portillo’s announces a grand opening date for North Texas.

COLONY, Texas. After months of waiting for hot dog aficionados from all over North Texas, one of Chicago’s most famous restaurants has announced when the Lone Star State will be able to try some delicious new sausages.

Portillothe concept of a fast food restaurant known for its menu of unrivaled Chicago street food announced on Tuesday that it will be holding the grand opening of its first restaurant in Texas on Wednesday, January 18 at 10:30 am.

The restaurant will be located in The Colony at 4560 Destination Drive.

Before the restaurant officially opens on the morning of January 18, Portillo’s will give two local charities, NTX Community Pantry and the Lewisville Education Foundation, a $5,000 check to celebrate the opening.

Once open, customers will be able to order Portillo specialties such as Chicago-style hot dogs, Italian beef sandwiches, charcoal-grilled burgers and chocolate cake.

The restaurant will be located 20 miles from downtown Dallas at The Colony’s Grandscape, North Texas’ largest mixed-use real estate, retail, entertainment, and restaurant complex. The 7,900-square-foot restaurant will seat more than 260 guests and has a two-lane driveway.

The new restaurant will also incorporate elements of the surrounding community as part of its décor, including a vintage 1967 Toyota Stout as a nod to the automaker’s nearby North American headquarters.

In March 2022, Portillo CEO Michael Osanlu stated that Texas #1 state in the country for your shipping business.

Portillo’s opened its first restaurant in Illinois in 1963. The company currently has 70 restaurants in nine states. Texas will soon be 10th.
