CONROE, TX — The following events are planned for adults, children, young adults, and their families in January 2020 at Central Library, 104 I-45 North, Conroe, Texas.

Featured Events

Thursday, November 10th at 6:00pm—Novels at Night Book Club
Join us every 2nd Thursday of the month at 6:00 p.m. as we meet in-person to discuss novels from various genres. Tea and cookies are provided! Come and share your thoughts and ideas while making new friends. November’s book selection is The Rules of Arrangement by Anisha Bhatia.

Tuesday, November 15th at 2:00 p.m– Pumpkin Spice Sugar Scrub
Drop in and make your own pumpkin spice sugar scrub. You can have all the aroma of a pumpkin spice latte without any of the calories. *Supplies are limited, so registration is required for each attendee.

Wednesday, November 16 at 6:00 p.m. – Teen Journaling Club
Do you like to bullet journal? Ever wanted to start daily journaling? Join us at the Central Library! We’ll provide the space, you’ll have all the fun! Journaling prompts and ideas will be available if you need a place to start. Some supplies will be available, but you are welcome to bring your own. Snacks and drinks will be provided. Teens 13-17. Registration is required.

Wednesday, November 9th at 9:30 a.m.—Microsoft Publisher: Greeting Cards & Calendars
Create unique greeting cards for all occasions and a customized calendar using templates in Publisher.

Wednesday, November 16th at 9:30 a.m.—Microsoft Publishers: Newsletters & Flyers
Create easy, professional newsletters and flyers for your business or personal use using Publisher templates.

Wednesday, November 30th at 9:30 a.m.—Microsoft Powerpoint: Part One
An Introduction: Learn the basics of how to start a PowerPoint presentation. You will learn how to choose a template, add a slide and use the options available on the slide; such as tables, images, texts as bullets and lists, and more.

Wednesday, November 30th at 10:0 a.m. –Life on the Indian Frontier of Oklahoma

  • Author Mikey J. Martin discusses life in the early days of Oklahoma. Mike is the author of:
  • My Indian Territory School – the story of hoffman common school in okmulgee, oklahoma
  • Hoffman, Okmulgee County, Oklahoma: Doing Business on the Indian Territory Frontier
  • Bryant, a Creek Indian Nation Townsite,
  • The legacy of the great Oklahoma land rush: A photographic history of Hoffman townsite and school in Okmulgee County

Children’s Events
Wednesday, November 28th at 10:00 a.m.—Baby & Me
Baby and me is an early literacy event geared toward babies 0-18 months. It is a great opportunity for babies and their caregivers to have fun and bond over rhymes, songs, stories, music and movement. See you there! Registration is required.

Wednesday, November 30th at 10:00 a.m.—Family Storytime
Storytime is an early literacy event geared toward children ages 6 and younger. It is a great opportunity for children to practice their listening and participation skills and to bond with their caregivers over great stories, catchy tunes, and fun activities. We can’t wait to see you!

Wednesday, November 30th at 11:00 a.m.—Sensory Storytime
Sensory storytime is an inclusive and interactive storytime filled with stories, songs, sensory play, and socialization. Children of all abilities are welcome. Please let us know if any accommodations are required. Registration is required.

Library Holiday Closings
Veterans Day – November. 11th -All MCMLS libraries closed.

Thanksgiving Break
November 24th – All MCMLS libraries close at 5:00 PM.
November 24th-26th- All MCMLS libraries closed.
