Car fire shuts down WB Loop 820 in North Richland Hills

A car fire in the western lanes of West Loop 820 in Rufe Snow slowed traffic in northern Tarrant County Monday afternoon.

North Richland Hills Police said an 18-wheeler caught fire west of Roof Snow and that westbound traffic was diverted to Bedford Euless Road.

Police said the 820 westbound lanes, as well as the east and west toll lanes, were closed while chemical protection teams cleaned up the fuel spill. The eastbound toll lanes were also closed on the Denton Highway.

The roads will remain closed “for the foreseeable future” until the scene is cleared, police said. Approximately 4.5 hours after the fire, all lanes were reopened to traffic.

No casualties have been reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
