Buckle up! Wild temperature swings approaching Central Florida

ORLANDO, Florida. – Jump on the roller coaster and have your entire wardrobe ready! After a cool and cloudy Saturday, the quick warm-up returns on Sunday. The ups and downs in the temperature department are expected to continue next week.

temperature trend

Expect mostly cloudy skies early Sunday with gradual breaks in clouds throughout the day. Sunlight may even break free before Sunday evening sets. As the front that brought clouds and rain on Saturday moves north, heat from South Florida rises sharply, allowing our temperatures to return to the upper 70s and lower 80s.

This system is then forced back south again late Sunday evening and Monday morning. Several thunderstorms are possible along this new cold front late Sunday evening and into the wee hours of Monday. An individual storm can be severe.

Most of the rain and storms stop by 8 a.m. Monday, when colder, drier air blows onto the peninsula. Even with increased sunshine on Monday afternoon, the highs will struggle to get above the 60s and below the 70s.

The huge warming trend returns mid-week, with highs returning to the mid-70s on Tuesday with partly cloudy skies. Then on Wednesday, Central Florida will hold out from the mid to 80s before another gust of cold air returns on Thursday.

Friday morning

Thursday’s maximum temperature in mostly sunny skies is likely to be below 70 degrees. By Friday morning, most of Central Florida will wake up to 30-40 degrees.
