Body of 13-year-old girl missing from Dallas found locked in man’s barn

After a 13-year-old girl who went missing in Dallas two weeks earlier was found safe and sound in a secure barn on a North Carolina property where the suspect was living, he now faces multiple felony charges.

Davidson County, North Carolina Sheriff Richie Simmons said at a press conference Monday that the FBI’s Texas Violent Crime Task Force contacted his office late Friday night to report a missing Dallas girl who was believed to have been with 34 an old man from Lexington named Jorge Ivan Santos Camacho.

The girl was last seen on March 1 in Dallas, according to a missing poster that has now gone viral online. According to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, CCTV footage from the area around the girl’s home captured a car with a Davidson County, North Carolina registration number around that time.

The girl was found on Friday and after being treated at the hospital, she was able to return home to Dallas to be with her family. The missing girl’s name has been changed or not released to protect her anonymity, as she is underage and may have been the victim of an ace-crime.

Simmons added that Camacho was charged with several crimes, including kidnapping, false imprisonment, human trafficking, rape of a victim under the age of 15, and indecent liberties with a child. On Monday afternoon, Camacho appeared in court for the first time, and the judge informed him that he could face life in prison without the possibility of parole if found guilty. Camacho may or may not have legal representation.
