Bengals star Joe Mixon charged with pointing gun at woman

Cincinnati Bengals forward Joe Mixon was charged with pointing a gun at a woman and threatening her, according to court documents.

Mixon is charged with misdemeanor aggravated threats, according to documents filed Thursday in Hamilton County Municipal Court and obtained by The Associated Press. His lawyer is not listed in the court records.

According to the warrant, Mixon pointed a gun at the woman and told her, “You need to be punched in the face. I have to shoot you, the police (can’t) catch me.”

The incident took place on January 21, the day before the Bengals defeated the Buffalo Bills in a divisional round playoff game.
Mixon, 26, has rushed for 814 yards and thrown seven touchdowns this season, his sixth. He also had 60 receptions for 441 yards, both career highs, and two touchdowns.

Mixon, a second-round pick from Oklahoma in 2017, has spent his entire career in Cincinnati and is aiming for a career-high 1,205 yards and 13 touchdowns in 2021.

In 2014, when he was 18, Mixon punched an Oklahoma student in the face, the attack was caught on CCTV video.

He was suspended from the football team for a year and filed a guilty plea for Alford, in which the defendant pleads not guilty but admits there is sufficient evidence for a guilty verdict. He received a reprieve and was ordered to do community service and undergo counseling.

The incident damaged his reputation in the draft, with several teams saying they had dropped him due to concerns about his character.
