Bartender accused of over-serving man who killed Officer Euless in crash is ignoring warning signs, police say

In the security video, Dylan Molina walks behind the bar and then bumps into a stool. The bartender helps him up and tells him to return to his seat.

LAKE WORTH, Texas. A newly released security video shows the exact moments before Dylan Molina drunkenly crashed into the car of police detective Euless Alex Cervantes in November 2021, killing his father and seriously injuring his widow and two children.

In the video, police said the bartender ignored warning signs meant to keep Molina off the road.

Investigators said Molina drank eight double vodka cocktails at Lake Worth’s Fuzzy’s Taco Shop in less than three hours, and that his BAC was twice the legal limit.

Police said he ran a red light and hit an off-duty detective, Cervantes, who was traveling with his family.

Molina pleaded guilty to manslaughter while intoxicated and three counts of assault while intoxicated.

As part of the statement, Tarrant County Judge Tamla Ray sentenced Molina to 15 years for manslaughter while intoxicated and ten years for each charge of assault while intoxicated.

All of these sentences will be served at the same time, meaning that Molina will serve all of her sentences at once.

Now bartender Cala Richardson, 26, has been charged with over-serving Molina.

Richardson, who worked as a bartender at Fuzzy’s when Molina was there, is charged with one count of selling to certain people, a class A misdemeanor that can carry up to 1 year in prison and a $4,000 fine.

Selling alcohol to drunk people is prohibited by the Texas Liquor Commission. No other arrests are expected in this case, but the TABC administrative investigation is ongoing.

On Tuesday, Lake Worth police released surveillance footage of Fuzzy they obtained when they filed a case against Molina.

It shows Molina exiting the door behind the bar, which investigators said was a restricted area for employees only.

He can be seen walking behind the bar when Richardson spots him. She motions him around the bar and back to his seat.

Obeying, Molina is seen tripping over a stool behind the bar.

Richardson can then be seen helping Molina to her feet. He returns to the other side of the bar, and Richardson disappears through the door behind the bar.

Molina then leaves her drink on the counter and walks to her car. Minutes later, he crashes into the Cervantes family.

After leaving the bar, Richardson returns to find that Molina has left. She peeks into the parking lot and then gets his drink from the bar.

“He couldn’t get up, he was behind the counter, he was in places he shouldn’t have been,” Lake Worth Police Chief J. T. Manushagian said.

Manushagian told WFAA that Richardson should have done more after seeing Molina in his condition.

“The signs he was showing should have indicated that it was not safe for him to leave this building,” Manushagyan said. “This is a stark reminder of what can happen if we ignore these signs.”

Richardson told police during questioning that she didn’t notice that Molina might have been drunk until he was at the bar and stumbled, just seconds before he left.
