Barges being used to clean up southwest Florida waterways

LEE COUNTY, Florida. On Thursday, barges will be used to collect garbage on the waterway.

This entire pickup truck will be delivered to carriers at the wharf on Thursday.

This operation was launched by the Florida Department of Emergency Management near the Monroe Canal Pier off Stringfellow Road.

They will use cranes to pick up some of these boats and larger wrecks.

And hopefully it will start clearing those waterways here in southwest Florida a little faster.
