Axios reporter fired after calling Ron DeSantis press release ‘propaganda’
Axios fired one of its reporters after he responded to a press release from Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis’ office (right) calling it “propaganda.”
DeSantis’ press release details a Florida Department of Education event hosted by the governor that aimed to expose “the diversity equality and inclusion scam in higher education.”
The press release said:
These concepts are in no way inclusive, but instead cause exclusion and separation within higher education and do not contribute to learning or knowledge in any way. Thus, no funding from hard-working, tax-paying Floridians, including parents of college students, should be spent on these divisive initiatives.

On Wednesday, Vanity Fair Reporter Charlotte Klein reported that the Axios had parted ways with Montgomery on Monday.
Axios Editor-in-Chief Sarah Kehaulani Goo confirmed Montgomery’s departure in a statement.
