Arrested the “leader” of the Grapevine NYE Street stunt capture

Grapevine police say the man they call the “ringleader” in the New Year’s Eve street grab on the city’s main street has been arrested.

Juan Carlos Rodriguez, 22, was arrested Tuesday on charges of participating in organized crime, a felony in state prison, Grapevine police said in a statement Wednesday.

Grapevine police said Rodriguez was identified with the help of the Dallas police as the “mastermind” after officers collected video footage of the stunts, as well as vehicle and license plate data.

On February 9, an arrest warrant was issued for Rodriguez. He was taken into custody on Tuesday in Sweetwater, located in Nolan County, about 215 miles west of the Grapevine. He faces 180 days to two years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines if found guilty.
