An 80-year-old North Texas janitor is set to retire again thanks to $245,000 in community donations.

The 80-year-old Cook County janitor will soon be able to retire again with the help of his community.

It took people just nine days to raise $245,000 for the man known as Mr. James.

He works at Calliesburg High School in the small town of Calliesburg, about 75 miles north of Dallas.

PREVIOUS COATING: A rent increase forced an 80-year-old retiree to take a job as a janitor, now strangers have raised $28,000 for him.

Mr James was forced to retire in January because his rent soared during the pandemic.

Three students heard the story of their new janitor and decided to start a fundraising campaign called “Get Mr. James out of this school”.

The teens set an initial goal of $10,000, which they quickly surpassed.

“No one deserves to work their whole life. They deserve to enjoy everything,” said student Grayson Thurman, who posted the ad campaign.

The campaign officially ends on Friday at noon.
