An 11-year-old boy was killed in a shooting in Dallas, police said.

An 11-year-old boy was killed in a shooting in North Dallas on Saturday morning, police said.

Around 2:15 a.m., officers responded to a call for shooting in the 6400 block of Royal Lane, according to the Dallas Police Department. Upon arrival, they found that the woman and the 11-year-old boy had been shot dead.

The 11-year-old boy died on the spot, the woman was taken to the hospital in a stable condition.

Further investigation determined that the alleged shooter was 30-year-old Jacate Huntley. Huntley was discovered near Glenn Heights and taken into custody. He was incarcerated in the Dallas County Jail on charges of capital murder.

According to prison records, bail was not set.
