Alamo College Districts Block TikTok

The blocking comes after Governor Abbott’s Dec. 7 directive, which directs all state-owned devices to ban TikTok.

SAN ANTONIO — The Alamo School Districts announced Wednesday that they are in the process of blocking both wireless and wired access to TikTok on all of their campuses.

Anyone connected to the Alamo County network will not be able to access TikTok.

The decision comes in the wake of Governor Abbott’s directive directing all agencies in the state of Texas to ban TikTok from any government device due to privacy concerns and cybersecurity risks.

TikTok will not be able to be downloaded on any devices released by Alamo College, including phones, laptops, tablets, desktops, and other devices that can connect to the internet.

On Tuesday, the University of Texas at Austin also banned access to TikTok on its campuses.

KENS 5 contacted other schools to see if they would also block the popular social media app. Keep for updates.
