A worker dies when a truck crane overturns at an elementary school construction site

A man died after a truck crane collapsed at the construction site of Prosper ISD Primary School in Selina on Friday afternoon.

As NBC 5 has learned, the crash happened on the grounds of Dan Christie Elementary School, just off Crutchfield Road, which is expected to open in August.

From the Texas Sky Ranger, a crane boom hit the roof of an elementary school and the truck flipped over on its side.

McKinney-based construction company Pogue said the accident involved a subcontractor’s crane and offered its condolences to the worker’s loved ones.

“We want to express our condolences and offer our prayers to his friends, family and colleagues,” the company said in a statement. “Safety is a top priority for our company and we have a team to assist with the investigation.”

The cause of the collapse is being investigated, and no other casualties were reported.

Firefighters from Selina, Prosper and Frisco responded to the emergency.
