A tractor-trailer crashed into an overpass on Interstate 75 in Florida, causing serious traffic delays

MARION COUNTY, Florida. Drivers in central Florida faced serious traffic problems on Wednesday after they half-slammed into an overpass on Interstate 75 north in Marion County.

Aerial video showed a tractor-trailer taking out a significant chunk of the overpass, scattering debris from the Interstate near Ocala.

The Florida Highway Patrol said crews are working to clear the road and repair damage caused by the incident.

On Wednesday afternoon, traffic was stopped for several miles. There were also significant delays on Highway 475 and US 301 as drivers looked for alternative routes.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office said northbound drivers on I-75 will be ordered to exit Interstate 329 at State Road 44, head east to US 301, and continue north on US 301 before reaching where US 301 and US 441 meet.

It’s unclear when the interstate will reopen.
