A suspected Chinese spy balloon could be over the Carolinas later this weekend if Biden takes no action.

The alleged Chinese spy balloon that was originally spotted over Montana has sailed through the United States and could be over the Carolinas later this weekend, according to the report.

The Chinese hot air balloon was found hovering about 60,000 feet north of Billings, Montana on Thursday and then flew over Columbia, Missouri on Friday. It could reach Raleigh, North Carolina to the east by Saturday afternoon, according to WNCN.

The high-altitude balloon has been the subject of international controversy, as its presence over Montana, home to the Malmstrom Air Force Base and dozens of nuclear missile silos, cast doubt on Beijing’s claim that the balloon collected weather information before going off course.

It also exacerbated diplomatic tensions between Beijing and Washington and abruptly cut short US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken’s upcoming trip to China.

Blinken would have been the highest-ranking official to visit the country since the start of the coronavirus pandemic in 2019.

The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs claims that the “civil airship” is being used for “research, mainly meteorological, purposes.” A spokesman said the balloon had “limited ability to steer itself” and “was far off course”.

President Biden has so far decided not to shoot down the balloon because it “poses no military or physical threat to people on the ground.”

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said on Friday that the president “has all options on the table.”

“The President will always put the safety of the American people first,” she added. “We’re watching closely and keeping all options on the table.”

“Shoot. This. Down,” tweeted Rep. Ryan Zinke, Montana. “The Chinese spy balloon is a clear provocation. In Montana, we don’t bow. We bring it down.
