A notorious New York gangster who made a deal with a sweetheart is arrested again after an alleged robbery of a teenager

A prominent gang member, who was off the hook by Manhattan prosecutors for multiple felonies, used his second chance to allegedly rob a 14-year-old boy and pack a gun in a playground, The Post has learned.

Accused gun burglar Charles Lindsay is finally behind bars on new charges, though not thanks to an awakened Manhattan office that even declined to say Friday if he would try to sabotage a previous sweetheart deal he made with the suspect.

Lindsey, 22, an alleged member of the Rich Fam gang with ties to several major robberies, faced four felony grand larceny charges in December for allegedly helping to steal $25,000 worth of handbags and other luxury goods from Madison. -avenue. boutiques in a series of robberies.

But instead of filing a criminal case, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg agreed to release the suspect if he attended five sessions of Manhattan Justice Opportunities, a delinquent distraction program.

Mobster Charles Lindsay used his second chance to allegedly rob a 14-year-old boy and pack a gun in a playground.

According to a law enforcement source, the DA’s office told cops that they had made a stunning offer because they needed to clear their busy calendar.

Lindsey had at least eight other arrests at the time, including for robbery.

However, instead of retaliating for slipping away from trouble, just over a month later, Lindsey and three others approached a 14-year-old boy on Fulton Street in Bedford Stuyvesant on 24 January and punched him in the head. face and grabbed his money and iPhone, according to a criminal complaint.

Lindsay was identified as a robbery suspect and sharp-eyed police officers recognized him from a photograph the department released of him in the case when they spotted him in St. Andrews Park on Feb. 15, according to law enforcement. Sources and complaint.

Officers tried to stop him, but Lindsay escaped by dropping a loaded firearm as he jumped over a park fence, according to police and the complaint.

The suspect ran into the Kingston and Fulton tube station and then jumped onto the tracks and escaped on foot in the tunnel. Police were waiting for him at the next stop in Utica and Fulton, and he was in handcuffs, police sources said.

Lindsay appeared in court Thursday night on weapons charges and was held on $100,000 bail at the request of the Brooklyn District Attorney’s office.

A spokesman for the Manhattan district attorney declined to answer questions about Lindsey’s earlier plea deal and whether the new charges against him would resurrect the grand theft cases.

Law enforcement sources said Lindsay has yet to attend a single session of his sabotage program.

“We are unable to comment given that this is an open and pending matter,” a spokesman for the Manhattan District Attorney’s office said.

Jake Salinas, 27, a Zadig & Voltaire store employee who was one of Lindsey’s alleged grand larceny victims, was shocked to learn of the suspect’s plea deal without jail time.

“In fact, he does not pay for what he did, and this is a lot of money. … It’s just a slap in the face,” Salinas said of the plea agreement. “It sets a precedent for anyone who hears his story that nothing can be done.”

Salinas, who worked at the time of the robbery, told The Post that two men wearing ski masks looked around the place while the rest waited outside.

“When they got to the back of the store, four more guys came up to the front. One guy was outside. There were seven of them,” the worker said.

According to Salinas, the thieves fled with expensive items in front of the store and ran away, adding that one of them shouted, “Don’t touch me!” before the escape.

Criminal defense attorney and former Bronx Assistant District Attorney Michael Discioarro told The Post about Bragg’s office, asking, “What exactly is he working on?

“When will he enact the laws of New York? Who is worthy of prosecution at this stage?” ex-prosecutor said.

“The Manhattan District Attorney’s office is not a social worker. He has 300 prosecutors who are supposed to protect the law, and he has failed.”
