Fort Worth, Texas. A Fort Worth Fire Department fire engine was stolen and then quickly found as firefighters answered a call Wednesday night, the department said.

Firefighters first responded to a request for medical attention at the Delux Inn Motel, located at 4451 S. Freeway, at approximately 7:36 p.m. Wednesday.

Engine 17 arrived on the scene about six minutes later, officials said, and nearly 10 minutes later, a man informed the crew in the motel lobby that their fire engine had been stolen.

Crews went outside just in time to see the engine leave the scene and immediately called the police, officials said.

Police quickly located the engine nearby, officials said. Officials added that no one was found in the truck when it was discovered northeast of the Seminary/I-35 service road intersection at 4313 S. Freeway.

The incident did not delay or impact patient care compared to the initial call, firefighters said.

The fire engine suffered minor damage to the front right side and was taken out of service while the incident was investigated, officials said. In the meantime, the crew of the truck has been transferred to a reserve vehicle.

No one was hurt during the incident, officials said. The police continue to investigate the incident.
