A former Biden aide questioned by law enforcement about classified documents has repeatedly appeared in Hunter’s emails.

The former chief aide to President Biden, who was reportedly questioned by federal investigators as part of an investigation into the president’s handling of classified documents, exchanged emails with Hunter Biden on numerous occasions, according to a Fox News Digital review.

Cathy Chang, Biden’s executive assistant when he was vice president and current Pentagon deputy director for protocol, is among several former presidential aides who will be interviewed by law enforcement, NBC News reported Thursday. Chang and others interviewed reportedly helped smuggle materials and belongings out of Biden’s office at the end of the Obama administration in early 2017.

For much of her five-year tenure, working for Biden under the Obama administration, Chung regularly communicated with Biden’s son Hunter Biden, relaying information about her father’s schedule and relaying messages directly from the then vice president, according to emails obtained from the abandoned home. Chang’s relationship with Hunter Biden also seems to have started before she even worked for his father. The emails revealed that Hunter Biden recommended Chang for the role of executive assistant when the previous holder of the position, Michelle Smith, left the White House in the spring of 2012.

“Thank you for calling and thinking of me,” Chang wrote to Hunter Biden on May 14, 2012. “After the initial shock of what you said… how could I pass up the opportunity to work for the Vice President of the United States!!!! I have a few questions. What is Michelle’s main job? I think I know what this job will entail, minus the planning part, which is a huge part of what I’m doing now. top 3-5 responsibilities to be in the office? Do you know the salary? Once again, thanks for thinking of me.”

At the time, Chang was working in the office of former Senator Mark Udall, D.C. as its director of schedules. She previously worked for Delaware Senator Ted Kaufman, who was nominated to replace Biden in the Senate in 2009 and is a longtime Biden confidant dating back decades.

In response to her message, Hunter Biden responded later that day, saying that the job would make her Biden’s chief gatekeeper and “get involved in whatever goes on outside of politics.”

“Call me if/when you want me to tell dad you’re interested and I’m sure Michelle will want to talk to you at some point too,” he added. “I don’t know who else they were considering, but I thought you’d be great.”

A month later, on June 13, 2012, Chang emailed Hunter Biden, informing him that she had been offered a job.

“I can’t thank you enough for thinking of me and getting me through this,” she said. “What an incredible opportunity! Thank you, Hunter!!”

Dozens of additional emails between Chang and Biden’s son showed varying levels of correspondence between them.

In one instance, in October 2015, Hunter Biden and Chang arranged a meeting with Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim. Fox News Digital previously reported that on October 30, 2015, Hunter set up a video conference call with his father and Slim, with whom Hunter was trying to do business with at the time.

In another incident earlier that year, Chang sent Hunter and other members of the Biden family an invitation to attend a State Department dinner hosted by his father in honor of Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Hunter Biden and Chang even occasionally discussed birthday gifts for relatives and helping friends’ kids get into college.

In February 2017, after Biden left the White House, Hunter Biden suggested that Chang, who appeared to have continued to work for the former vice president after the Obama administration, should go to work for him and his business partners Eric Schwerin and Joan Mayer.

“Really work ‘for’ me and ‘with’ Eric… Really ‘work’ with Eric and Joan and so I can make money for everyone… really just make money for all of you and Kathleen, not for me,” he wrote. Chang, referring to his ex-wife Kathleen Boulet. “Sounds fun, right!”

And several times the couple coordinated meeting schedules with former University of Pennsylvania president Amy Gutmann. Shortly after taking office, Gutmann was chosen by the President to be the US Ambassador to Germany.

“The Vice President will meet with President Guttman on Friday, January 8 at 11:00 a.m. at the lake house in Germany,” Chang wrote in an email to Hunter Biden, other family members, and several White House officials in January 2016. VP hopes you can join him for this meeting. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!!”

After Chang invited Hunter Biden to another meeting with Gutmann in April 2016, in a subsequent message to his business partner, he suggested rescheduling a previously scheduled meeting with the Ivory Coast prime minister. He added that “Gutmann’s MTG is mandatory for me because of my dad.”

Meanwhile, Gutmann took part in a ceremony marking the grand opening of the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement, the president’s think tank in Washington, D.C., in 2018.

“President Gutmann, when you came to me before [Obama] The administration got up and asked me if I could [would] being a professor in Pennsylvania, the first thing I had was that it sounds like an intriguing idea, but it became even more intriguing after the results [2016] elections when you said I could bring serious, serious people with me,” Biden said during the opening ceremony in February 2018.

Then on Thursday, the White House admitted that a second batch of classified documents had been found in the garage of Biden’s home in Wilmington, Delaware.

Biden attorney Richard Sauber reacted to Attorney General Merrick Garland’s appointment of Robert Hoore as special counsel on Thursday, saying: “As the president said, he takes classified information and materials seriously, and as we said, we have been cooperating from the moment we briefed [National] Archive that a small number of documents have been found and we will continue to cooperate.”

“We have been working closely with the Justice Department throughout the audit and we will continue this cooperation with the Special Counsel,” Sauber said.

“We are confident that a thorough review will show that these documents were lost inadvertently, and the President and his lawyers promptly responded to the discovery of this error,” he added.

“I will have the opportunity to talk about all this, God willing, it will be soon, but I said earlier this week – and by the way, my Corvette is in a locked garage. on the street,” Biden told Peter Doucy in an interview with Fox News on Thursday.

“So the documents were in a locked garage,” Doucy said.

“Yeah, just like my Corvette. But as I said earlier this week, people know that I take classified documents and classified material seriously,” Biden replied. “I also said that we are fully and fully cooperating with the DOJ review.”

According to The New York Times, Biden aides have been looking for additional locations where Biden could bring in more classified documents from his tenure as vice president in the Obama administration.

White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said on Thursday that the search for documents had been completed.

Pentagon Press Secretary Brig. General Patrick Ryder referred all questions about Chiang’s interview with investigators to the Justice Department. The Justice Department did not respond to a request for comment.

Hunter Biden’s attorney and Chang did not immediately respond to a Fox News Digital media inquiry.
