A teacher in Florida lost his job after he posted a video accusing Gov. Ron DeSantis of removing many random books from the school library shelves.

Brian Covey, a substitute teacher at Mandarin High School in Jacksonville, Florida, has been fired from his teaching position, First Coast News reported.

Covey initially released false information about Florida school textbooks on January 27, claiming they removed “all books” from his class.

But on Thursday he was released from school.

Duval County Public Schools released a statement to the media that he was released for misrepresenting the facts.

“During discussions between the school district and ESS regarding this individual’s misrepresentation of books available to students in the school library and the disruption caused by that misrepresentation, it was determined that he violated his employer’s social media and mobile phone policies. Therefore, ESS has determined that these rule violations caused the separation of this person,” the school wrote.

The situation arose due to new directives from the state to ensure that books that children are not exposed to inappropriate content are secretly placed in schools by radical left activists.

It is true that the public schools have been asked to “be careful” and start evaluating their books. Duval County School officials noted that an evaluation was underway, but officials added that the teacher’s social media posts were false.

“We have ordered teachers to temporarily reduce their classroom library collections to previously approved titles while waiting for media professionals to compile a broader list of approved titles,” DCPS Superintendent Diane Greene said, according to First Coast News. “However, the class should never have been left without resources to read.”

It seems logical that if books are being reviewed, then they should definitely be taken off the shelves for review. It’s not that all books are banned, but you have to start somewhere to literally skim through the millions of books scattered across the state’s schools.

Covey was lucky he didn’t face other consequences. According to the Washington Post, those who willfully violate the new rules could face third-degree felony charges ($5,000 fine and up to five years in prison) for exposing students to inappropriate items deemed “harmful to health” by the Florida Department of Education. “. minors.”

A Florida Department of Education document notes that targeted books are those that “primarily appeal to lascivious, shameful, or morbid interests” and are “blatantly offensive” and “have no serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value to minors.”

DeSantis also blew up a fake teacher video.

The governor is right. The leftist teacher tried to give the impression that Republicans in general, and DeSantis in particular, are strongly opposed to all books for children.
