A cyclist died in a fatal crash on Highway 45.

SARASOTA COUNTY, Florida. A cyclist died today in a car accident on state road 45.

The Buick sedan was traveling north on US 45 and was approaching an intersection at the Old Venice Road intersection. When the cyclist was trying to exit onto Old Venesee Road, the car hit the right side of the cyclist.

The cyclist separated from the bike and stopped on the roadway. The Florida Highway Patrol Homicide Unit continues to investigate the cause of the accident.
