A 24-year-old Spectrum News 13 reporter died in a shooting in Orlando and was identified by his family as Dylan Lyons.

A Florida news reporter who was shot while covering the Orlando shooting has been identified as Dylan Lyons of Spectrum News 13, according to a fundraiser organized by his sister.

Lyons was at the site where a woman was found dead earlier in the day when the suspect in that shooting returned to the scene and shot four more people, killing two, including Lyons, sheriff’s deputies said.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office said Keith Melvin Moses, 19, was presumed guilty and was detained, according to FOX 35. He is accused of being responsible for both shootings that left three people dead.

“I’m trying to raise money for my little brother’s funeral,” Dylan’s sister Rachel Lyons said in a GoFundMe campaign. “He was a Spectrum news reporter who was ambushed and killed while covering a story in Orlando, Florida.”

She added: “He was a real father to his niece and nephew, whom he loved very much. He loved his bride and was a devoted son to his mother and father. Dylan would have turned 25 in March. soul and a wonderful person in life. My brother was our child.”

“He was taken away from us too soon,” she added.

Sheriff John Mina said officers responded to reports of a shooting on Hialeah Street in Pine Hills in Orlando, Florida at 4:05 p.m. and said a Spectrum News 13 reporter and photographer had been shot. Mina said one of the News 13 employees was killed but did not identify the victim.

After shooting at News 13’s car, Moses allegedly went to a nearby house and shot the mother and her 9-year-old daughter, Mina said, adding that the 9-year-old had died.

According to the Spectrum News 13 staff page, Lyons joined the Spectrum News 13 team as a multimedia journalist in July 2022.
