LEE COUNTY, Florida — LeeTran is expanding its Mobility-on-Demand pilot program to the Lehigh Acres region starting next month.
The ULTRA On-Demand Transit service will include a multi-seat vehicle that will take visitors anywhere within a defined service area:
- The northern boundary will be West 12th Street between Sunshine Boulevard and Wellington Avenue south.
- The western boundary will run southeast from Sunshine Boulevard towards Beth Stacy Boulevard and Homestead Road.
- The eastern boundary will run southwest from Wellington Avenue South toward Joponic Avenue South.
- The southern boundary will be Jaguar Boulevard between Aleta Avenue South and Yoponica Avenue South.
The service launches on March 2, and the on-demand service will be available seven days a week from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. Riders will be able to use the Uber app or request a ride by calling 239-533-8726.
Rides will cost $1.50 in the pilot phase.
LeeTran rolled out its first on-demand mobility initiative in 2022 in the Bonita Springs area.
Lee County states that on-demand ULTRA service will not replace ADA Passport service or fixed route service in the Lehigh Acres area. The ULTRA on-demand service supports LeeTran’s fixed route services, allowing passengers to travel to destinations within the on-demand mobility service area or stop on route 515/110 to reach destinations outside the service area.
This new Lehigh service will be available to everyone in a designated service area and on a first-come, first-served basis. The new service will be powered by Uber technology, made possible through a partnership with Uber.
