EASTLAND COUNTY, Texas. The SUV driver died Friday afternoon when his vehicle crashed and overturned on Interstate 20, one mile west of Eastland.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said in a preliminary investigation that the driver, 29-year-old Jawuan Naleek Mullins from Edinburgh, was running from a Cisco police officer on the east side of the Interstate Highway.
Mullins entered the center section of I-20 and corrected as he attempted to return to the roadway.
The SUV traveled along the lanes of I-20 eastbound, across the median between I-20 and the driveway, and across the driveway into a ditch, where it overturned, hitting a fence and a lamp post.
Mullins was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, Seth Savage Slayton of Plano, was taken to Eastland Memorial Hospital for treatment.
