COLLIN COUNTY (CBSDFW.COM) – Collin County authorities say up to 50 drug cases could be at risk now that a former Plano police officer has pleaded guilty to charges of domestic violence that cost him his job.
Zachary Petty has agreed to a plea deal that will keep his records clean if he completes the eight-year pending trial.
The victim in this case is the widow of police officer Richardson David Sherrard, who was shot dead in the line of duty five years ago.
Last year, Nicole Sherrard filed a police report accusing Patty, with whom she was in a relationship, of constant domestic violence.
She wrote that she agreed with the verdict and called the abuse she experienced “worse than anyone has ever known.”
