(WSVN) – A Delray Beach man hit the jackpot by winning $1 million on a lottery ticket.
Steven Munoz Espinoza, 43, of Delray Beach won a $1 million prize in the 500X THE CASH lottery game at the Florida Lottery headquarters in Tallahassee.
He chose to receive his winnings in the form of a one-time lump sum of $820,000.
Munoz Espinoza purchased his winning ticket from the Publix store located at 555 NE Fifth Ave. in Delray Beach.
“It was the end of a long day and I was tired. I stopped at Publix and was about to buy a ticket from the machine when a man cut in front of me,” Muñoz Espinoza said. “Instead of saying something, I decided that I would just buy a ticket at the box office. I can’t believe I won a million dollars!”
The seller will receive $2,000 for selling the winning lottery ticket.
The $50 game has a top prize of $25 million, the largest prize ever offered in a Florida scratch game. The overall odds of winning the game are 1 in 4.50.
Espinosa and his wife said they plan to buy a house for their family.
