MONTEREY COUNTY, California (KION-TV) — Monterey County is taking extra precautions as severe weather hits the Central Coast on Thursday.
For health and safety reasons, Monterey County Public Works, Facilities and Parks employees will close several county parks Thursday and Friday. The following parks will be closed:
Jacks Peak Park in Monterey
Manzanita Park in Prunedale
Royal Oaks Park in Monterey County
San Lorenzo Park in King City
Toro Park in Salinas
County officials said the San Lorenzo Park RV campground will remain open. Lakes San Antonio and Nascimento will remain accessible for camping and boating, but the trails will be closed.
Public works officials will monitor any damage to parks and trails to determine when it is safe to reopen each park.
