$439 Million Powerball: Wednesday Draw Winning Numbers

While $439 million is certainly nothing special, it is still $200 million short of being in the top 10 biggest lottery jackpots.

WASHINGTON. The Powerball draw is worth $439 million on Wednesday night after the game continued its losing streak on Monday.

Wednesday’s winning numbers were 6-15-22-42-47 and Powerball 26.

Even though $439 million is a huge amount, it is still over $200 million short of the top 10 lottery jackpots.

The last Powerball jackpot was won in mid-November. In early November, a single ticket purchased in California won a record-breaking $2.04 billion Powerball jackpot.

The stunning top prize jackpots are only for winners who choose the annuity option, which pays out over 29 years. Most players take a smaller lump sum – $237.3 million in the case of Wednesday’s draw (before taxes, of course).

The current jackpot also has uneasy implications after a $1.35 billion Mega Millions ticket was sold in Maine last week. The unidentified winner may remain anonymous. Over a dozen other players matched five numbers and won a $1 million second tier prize.

The chances of winning the Powerball jackpot are slim – one in 292.2 million.

Huge lottery jackpots have become more common over the past few years as lottery officials have changed rules and ticket prices to increase top prizes.

In 2021, the lottery saw its biggest change as Powerball officials added a Monday draw to their weekly Wednesday and Saturday draw lineup. At the time of the announcement, Powerball announced that the addition of the Monday draw would result in “larger and faster growing jackpots”.

Powerball is played in 45 states, as well as Washington DC, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.
