2023 NFL Hall of Fame class to be announced, North Texas native Kelly Clarkson will go down in history as host

The 2023 NFL Hall of Fame class will be announced Thursday, Feb. 9 on NBC.

North Texas Emmy and Grammy award winning daytime talk show host Kelly Clarkson will be the first woman to host the show.

Three former Dallas Cowboys are finalists for the modern era.

Linebacker Zach Thomas (1996-2007 Miami Dolphins, 2008 Dallas Cowboys), defenseman Darren Woodson (1992-2003 Dallas Cowboys) and outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware (2005-2013 Dallas Cowboys, 2014-2016 Denver Broncos”).

The finalists are determined by a vote of the Selection Committee of the Hall. They started with 129 nominees and narrowed it down to 28 finalists represented in the Hall.

NBC 5 recently spoke with Ware about the nomination and what it would mean for him to be inducted into the Hall of Fame and receive the coveted gold jacket.

“I have the opportunity to go through this tunnel again,” Ware said. “You will see fireworks again. Not only in the Cowboys stadium with 100,000 fans screaming for you, but now you will have the opportunity to go through one more time and wear this jacket. The world must listen and I can do it one more time. It couldn’t be better and I’m just proud of it.”

The 2023 Pro Football Hall of Fame class will be inducted during the NFL Honors show airing at 8 pm PT on NBC and Peacock.
