13-year-old boy dies in New York apartment building fire: officials

Officials said a 13-year-old boy died in a fire that broke out Sunday at his Brooklyn apartment building.

The teenager, Dillon Waldren-Dixon, was found with severe injuries in a seven-story building on Snyder Avenue off East 25th Street in East Flatbush after a fire broke out on the fifth floor around 10:30 a.m., according to the NYPD and FDNY. . .

He was rushed to the Kings County Hospital Center where he was pronounced dead.

A 50-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man, also injured in the fire, were taken to the same hospital and are said to be in stable condition.

According to the FDNY, one firefighter was seriously injured and two other firefighters suffered minor injuries.

25 FDNY units arrived on the scene, including 106 firefighters.

The fire was contained around 11:40 a.m., according to the FDNY.

The cause of the fire was under investigation on Monday morning.
