Mavs entertainers bring smiles to children at local hospital

This week, members of the Dallas Mavericks entertainment team brought joy and laughter to children at the local hospital. The event was meant to coincide with Valentine’s Day, as the franchise aimed to “spread the love” to children who are going through a difficult period in their lives.

Mavs ManiAACs, D-Town Crew and MavsMan joined in the celebration at Dallas Children’s Medical Center. A ShiftKey representative was also present. The group visited Seacrest Studios, took part in arts and crafts with youth, and visited private rooms.

Over the summer, ShiftKey signed an agreement with Mavs, and the two companies focused on making a big difference in North Texas. Public outreach is key for both organizations.

“We both share a commitment to doing good in society by directly impacting those in need, especially single mothers and frontline workers,” said Sint Marshall, CEO of Dallas Mavs.

Back in December, Dallas Mavericks players Josh Green and Dwight Powell visited the hospital in Children’s Dallas. Hospital organizers said it was the biggest turnout of the year, given the youth’s fondness for the Mavs.

The visit this week was similar to that one; The animation team began their journey in a live studio that broadcasts the session to all patients in their rooms. From there, the Mavs animators visited individual wards and brought goodies to all the patients.

“What I love about being a member of the Dallas Mavericks D-Town Crew is the opportunity to give back and spend time in the community,” said Jenna Lowry, a sophomore D-Town Crew member. “It’s always a pleasure to connect with others, make them smile and make a positive impact on their day. This is really what it is about!”

Lowry said the day was filled with love and laughter.

“[It was] an unforgettable experience for the kids, families and me as we connected and shared stories,” Lowry said. “The boy there was playing Fortnite, which I didn’t know anything about before, and he informed me that in order to win you need to be the last one standing. You learn something new every day! This experience is very dear to me, and I am grateful that this organization gives us, members of entertainment teams, the opportunity to integrate into the lives of others.
