Zeldin supporter choked by man at Hochul rally, tussles with NYC councilwoman

A female protestor at a Gov. Kathy Hochul rally was choked by a man in a skirmish that also involved a New York City lawmaker in Manhattan Saturday evening, footage showed.

The melee occurred near the landmark Stonewall Inn, where the Democrat was appearing with Bravo host Andy Cohen to shore up LGBTQ support in the days before the election.

Footage captured by the independent photographer Viral News NY showed the middle of the altercation, in which a man in shorts and a plaid short sleeve shirt choked a woman wearing a black sweatshirt.

Councilwoman Crystal Hudson, a Democrat who represents Prospect Heights in Brooklyn, was also seen tussling with the woman, who at one point shoved the lawmaker. Hudson did not immediately respond to The Post’s request for an interview.

The 24-second clip did not show how the fight began, but the unidentified woman told the photographer it started when someone took her sign, which featured pictures of Hochul and other Democrats with the tagline “Vote Them Out.”

“I was just there peacefully just holding my sign, and you know, they didn’t want to hear what I had to say,” the woman explained.

“I was here holding my sign, and … peaceful protest, against you know Governor Hochul, and a woman — a very large heavyset woman, I’m assuming, you know, might have been a man — came and took my sign.”

“As I was trying to retrieve my sign, there was another man that came and choked me, and there were two other people that were coming and preventing me from trying to get my sign.”

“Never wanted to get physical with anyone, I was just there peacefully just holding my sign, and you know, they didn’t want to hear what I had to say.”

Hochul was set to campaign with President Biden in Yonkers Sunday, a day after appearing with former President Clinton in Brooklyn.

The 64-year-old also stumped with Vice President Kamala Harris last week as she seeks to fend off Republican challenger Rep. Lee Zeldin to win a full term.

Zeldin spent Saturday shoring up support in the Hudson Valley.

Hochul has a 7.4-point advantage in the race, according to poll aggregator FiveThirtyEight.
