Your next boil is about to get expensive

HOUSTON These boiled crayfish will become a little more expensive this year.

Mud bugs are expected to cost nearly two dollars more this year than they did last year.

Latest data from The Crawfish app – An app that shows updated crayfish price data from over 1,600 businesses, showing average prices per pound in Louisiana at $7.55/lb for boiled crayfish and $5.67/lb for live crayfish.

According to The Crawfish App, crayfish fanatics charge an average of $200 per bag.

And that doesn’t include ingredients like corn, seasonings, and more.

The Crawfish app reports that January prices are expected to be higher than the rest of the season.

However, farmers say low December temperatures, cold spells and low stocks are expected to keep prices for both live and cooked crayfish high this year.
