Women’s health startup Iron Health launches with $4.5 million

Women’s healthcare platform Iron Health, which allows OB/GYNs to connect their patients to primary and other specialty care, has been launched with an initial investment of $4.5 million.

Non-profit organization March of Dimes’ Innovation Fund, launched in September, has contributed to Iron Health’s seed investment and is a strategic investor and partner.

Based in New York City, Iron Health is a women’s health technology platform that acts as a virtual extension of the OB/GYN practice, offering a link between primary and specialized care while helping to coordinate care and virtual services.

The platform provides patients with virtual visits, direct messaging, and access to a member of the Iron Health OB/GYN team, including nurse practitioners, registered dietitians, clinical social workers, and registered nurses.

The platform was built in Redesign Health, a company that manufactures, launches and raises funding for other healthcare startups.

Venture funding in digital health in 2022 slowed down significantly after the mega-investments seen in 2021. However, investment in women’s health is trending upward despite cuts in overall funding, and some feel that women’s health is still ripe for investment.

The March of Dimes Innovation Fund was launched last year to invest in early-stage companies that address maternal and child health concerns. His support for Iron Health marks the fund’s first investment since its inception.

Redesign Health was one of the digital health platforms that received huge funding in 2021, receiving 250 million dollars.

In September, the company scored another $65 million in Series C funding, but just a month later laid off 67 employees, or roughly 20% of their workforce, in a restructuring.

Since its launch in 2018, Redesign Health has launched several digital health companies, including a home care startup. MedArrive, Jasper Health’s cancer care coordination platform, and hybrid mental health company UpLift.

Other women’s health companies include a virtual healthcare provider for women and families. Maven Clinic, family care digital health platform Ovia Health, and hybrid women’s health company Tia.
