Woman socked in face, thrown down Queens subway stairs in latest unprovoked attack

A 22-year-old woman was socked in the face and thrown down a flight of stairs inside a Queens subway station Sunday — the latest assault in a string of unprovoked attacks on the city’s straphangers.

The young woman was standing on a train platform at the 82nd Street – Jackson Heights station when a man walked up to her and randomly slugged her in the face at 5:20 a.m., police said.

The stranger then shoved her down a flight of stairs leading to a mezzanine below and threw her bag down after her — without stealing any property, according to cops.

The woman sustained injuries to her left knee, back and right hand and was treated at Elmhurst Hospital. She was diagnosed with a compression fracture to her back at the medical center, police said.

The NYPD said the suspect is a man believed to be about 45 years old. He has a medium complexion, black hair and dark eyes. He stands approximately 5-foot-10-inches tall and weighs about 230 pounds, according to a description provided to police.

Police are on the lookout for a male suspect that assaulted a 22-year-old woman inside the 82nd Street - Jackson Heights station on Oct. 23, 2022.

In the most recent attacks — a 32-year-old man was pushed onto the tracks in a Brooklyn station Friday, a 62-year-old man was punched and pushed onto Bronx tracks Sunday night and a 26-year-old man was pushed onto tracks in the Bronx a week earlier.
