Woman seriously injured in two-car crash in Sokel

SOCKEL, California. (KION-TV) — The Santa Cruz California Highway Patrol said Friday morning two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash at the Soquel-San Jose Road junction on Hilltop Road on Friday morning.

CHP reported that Keller Alexander Stout, 31, of Sokel, was driving a 1997 Toyota southbound on Sokel San Jose Road around 8:19 am. He was driving at an unknown speed when he pulled up to Hilltop Road with a 28-year-old passenger from Ben. Lomond.

At the same time, a 56-year-old man from Sokel was driving a 1995 Honda ahead of a Toyota at an unknown speed, CHP reported. For some unknown reason, Toyota turned onto the north lane of Soquel San Jose Road and drove south.

CHP reported that Stout drove to the right and crashed into the Honda on the south lane of Soquel San Jose Road. The Toyota then drove west and crashed into a tree.

The female passenger was taken by ambulance to Valley Medical Center with serious injuries, according to CHP.

According to CHP, Stout was arrested for drunk driving, possession of illegal substances and two firearms. Stout suffered minor injuries and was taken to a Dominican hospital and placed under arrest.

The Honda driver was not injured in the accident.
